It’s all in the lyrics. The thoughts, the dreams, the concepts, the realities. That’s what Victor Byenkya aka 3-Card brought to The Living Room. This is by no means a new discovery for Victor, having started writing poems at age 11 and lyrics shortly thereafter. Growing up in Uganda, Victor says he had to stop himself from rapping when he was walking around in public as a kid. He had ideas that he had to process before they went away. It went beyond wanting to create music, but needing to. Since moving to Toronto over a decade ago, he has embraced the cultural mosaic that is this city – taking inspiration from and collaborating with artists of multiple styles from folk to EDM to country. Behind the music, he is someone who likes conversation and to learn about others. Music is his way of processing the world, and though it may be a form of therapy, his perspective is that no matter what “It’s all good. It’s gonna be good.” Victor has taken the past few years to focus on writing instead of releasing music and this year he has some incredible new stuff being release into the world. So here they are, unencumbered by other instruments, just 3-Card and his incredible lyrics.
